Check out what's happening in the NewQuestCity Forums for Hawaii .
The North Shore of O‘ahu will soon get even sunnier. Within the next few months, a field of sunflowers should be in full bloom and put a boost in color to the usually barren frontier lands of Waialua. Who would of thought? A hidden sunflower field in Hawai‘i that brightens up the North Shore. The [...]

When I’m not blogging, I’m browsing. Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on October 20th: CityCamp Honolulu: CityCamp Honolulu (CCHNL) is an unconference focused on innovation for municipal governments and community organizations. It is a collaborative effort to re-imagine the way the web, applications, technology and participation will shape the future of Honolulu. [...]
If you’ve been anywhere near downtown Honolulu over the past couple of days, you probably couldn’t help but stop and gawk at the massive Sea Launch Odyssey platform docked at Pier 10 near Aloha Tower. It’s an imposing sight. It stood out even when viewed from my office in Iwilei, and for drivers passing on [...]
Two middle school students from Kailua and Hilo represented the Aloha State in a national science competition earlier this week. Winners and finalists in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade from across the country attended at a black-tie gala at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C on Tuesday. Robert Heckman, a 14-year-old Kailua Intermediate [...]

Check out this real-life “Angry Birds” game, set up by local tech company HONBLUE (and sister company JET Graphics) yesterday at the Pacific Building Trade Expo. “Angry Birds” is one of the hottest, biggest video games out there, and it was inevitable that people would start to recreate it in three dimensions. There’s a huge [...]

It was over a year ago when “Bartleby’s Book of Buttons,” a delightful digital storybook for iPad, hit Apple’s App Store. Created by Hawaii-born artist Henrik Van Ryzin and his wife Denise, I found the app to be a delightful, wonderful digital storybook for the iPad. That first release was dubbed “Volume I: The Far Away [...]

Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on November 22nd: Wave Gliders Begin Historic Swim Across Pacific: Yesterday, four Wave Gliders (self propelled robots, each about the size of a dolphin) left San Francisco for a 60,000 kilometer journey. Built by Liquid Robotics, the robots will travel together [...]
After nearly two years of planning and preparations, APEC is finally landing in Honolulu. This week’s events brings government leaders from around the world (including Punahou grad and U.S. President Barack Obama) to the Aloha State. That definitely means heightened security (which will disrupt traffic and other aspects of everyday life), and supposedly means escalated [...]

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) came and went. We all tried our best to avoid the increased traffic, street closures and other inconveniences. But turns out, not everything was an inconvenience. There's always a bright side to be had. And I was fortunate enough to experience one of the positive results of having some extra [...]
Blind as a bat. Yeah, I've heard that one on more than one occasion! I'm not blind, but I do have pretty horrible eyesight, meaning – if my glasses 'ain't on the nightstand when I wake up, then I 'ain't going nowhere. I've been a four-eyes for as long as I can remember. I've gotten [...]
Nothing tastes more like Thanksgiving than pumpkin…in pie, cheesecake, pastry or pretty much any form. Sure, there's the delicious turkey and stuffing duo, but even that may be subject to change. When the Thanksgiving Bird runs low at (or runs away from) local grocery stores, it's up to the Thanksgiving Ham to find another palatable [...]
